Deep Training Internships at the ESRF

Congratulations to Fortune Mokoena and Alicia Potgieter who were awarded the SA-ESRF Internships, for an MSc and PhD period respectively.

They will study and work with the Engineering Groups at the ESRF-EBS in Upgrade and R&D Development areas. This begins a new era where Science and Engineering combine, involving also SA University engineering staff in the Research as part of the SA Synchrotron Community. Funding Flash : FULLY PAID INTERNSHIP WITH POSTGRAD OPPORTUNITY AT THE ESRF

Opportunity for young scientists/engineers The European Synchrotron Research Facility (ESRF) is currently undergoing its phase II upgrade. This is a time of intense high technology development for this major, premier large scale scientific infrastructure. An opportunity has arisen for two young SA scientists or engineers to work at the ESRF in an internship fashion and get some training leading to a MSc during the upgrade period. The training period will be for 12 months with foreign residency supported. There are many fields to choose from, all of which represent training at the pinnacle of the technology of each area. EM Cryo Microscopy, Micro-mechanics, X-ray optics, Software for data analysis, Extreme environment conditions for measurement (pressure, temperature etc), High power lasers, Automation amongst others. Two project internships are available and the research project will be the material of towards a MSc, with joint supervision of the SA University involved and the ESRF.
