About / Docs

The African Light Source (AfLS) Foundation is mandated to drive the progress along the Roadmap towards the establishment of an Advanced Light Source on the African Continent.  Many on the continent and beyond had been advocating for a Pan-African light source since the 90's, where a first major milestone was via EBASI in 2000 (ebasi.org, Edward Bouchet-Abdus Salam Institute),  at the formation of the African Laser Centre in 2001 (africanlasercentre.net).  The AfLS was formed in 2015, at the AfLS-1 Conference, generating the Grenoble Resolutions and AfLS Roadmap. Please delve deeper into the documents below, as well as browse this site, to learn more about the AfLS.
